How to install Different Operating Systems
Linux
- Find a distro
- Download the ISO from the distro’s website
- Use a tool like Rufus or Etcher to flash the ISO onto a USB flash drive
- Boot into the Live CD
- Follow the instructions to install the operating system onto your computer
- Get ridiculed by Raihan, that jerk who popped your oobleck, for using Linux.
- Try to argue with him about why Linux is better.
- Arguing is pointless because he’s a stubborn moron.
- Get told by Armando to stop arguing.
- Change your time travel goal from “Kill Hitler” to “Stop Armando from telling me about his desktop before we watch Death to Smoochy”.
- Done!
Windows
- Download and install VirtualBox
- Download a Windows 10 ISO
- Configure a Windows 10 VM in VirtualBox
- Format your USB drive
- Enable adding a USB device to VirtualBox VMs
- Download the Windows Media Creation Tool into your VM
- Use the Windows Media Creation Tool to make a Windows bootable USB drive
- If you plan on dual-booting, partition the drive using a tool like GParted
- Boot into the Windows installer
- Follow the instructions to install the operating system onto your computer
- Done!
macOS
On a Mac
- Boot into internet recovery
- Format your drive
- Follow the instructions to install the operating system onto your computer
- Done!
On a PC
- Find some sort of guide to installing macOS in a VM
- Run into a problem
- Give up
- Realize you need macOS for developing iOS apps
- Buy a $2000 Mac
- Set it up
- Done!
